April Shih

April Shih is a Los Angeles-based television writer/producer and filmmaker. Growing up in a sleepy beach suburb, April entertained herself by catfishing people in AOL chatrooms. This penchant for making shit up eventually turned into a passion for storytelling, and after high school April attended film school at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. April has produced several films and plays including the Ovation Award-winning revival of Kiss of the Spiderwoman: The Musical. April spent two years playing poker in Las Vegas before pursuing a degree in playwriting at Cal State Northridge. April has been a fellow of the Sundance Episodic Story Lab, Film Independent Episodic Lab, CBS Writers Mentoring Program, as well as a recipient of a Sundance Advancement Grant in support of her project TILTING. She has written for FXX’s critically acclaimed comedy YOU’RE THE WORST, MRS. AMERICA (an FX limited series starring Cate Blanchett), UNDONE for Amazon Studios, and was most recently a writer/producer for EVEL, a forthcoming limited series on USA. Currently, April has a half-hour series in development at FX with Larry Wilmore, and is writing the feature film adaptation of Weike Wang's novel CHEMISTRY for Amazon Studios.
